DENVER - No. 11 Metro State rebounded from a loss to Fort Lewis last week by defeating the 25th-ranked Skyhawks 3-0 in convincing fashion on Friday at home.  The win moved the Roadrunners to 9-3-2 overall and 6-2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while FLC fell to 9-5-0 and 8-2-0.

Metro State had fallen 3-2 in overtime to the Skyhawks last Friday in Durango, Colo.  Friday's win snapped a seven-game winning streak for Fort Lewis against Metro State.  The last win against Fort Lewis for the Roadrunners came on Oct. 14, 2007.

Metro State wasted no time on Friday as Scott Crawford (Arvada, Colo./Pomona H.S.) scored just 1:29 into the game on a rebound off a shot from teammate Kevin Pocalyko (Longmont, Colo./Longmont H.S.).  It was the third of a flurry of shots just a minute into the game for the Roadrunners, who outshot Fort Lewis 16-12 after getting outshot 25-8 a week ago in the overtime loss.

A big difference-maker for Metro State was having defender Tyler Wilson (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill H.S.) back after missing three games with an injury.  Goalkeeper Issa Bissau (Denver, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) only had to make five saves to secure the shutout.

Steven Emory (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins H.S.) pushed the score to 2-0 in the 43rd minute, scoring on a breakaway after Andrew Mejia (Littleton, Colo./Mullen H.S.) passed the ball over the Skyhawks' defenders.

FLC controlled the ball early on in the second half, but the pressure left the Skyhawks vulnerable and Walter Bertini (Boulder, Colo./Boulder H.S.) capitalized in the 72nd minute.  Emory intercepted a pass and found Bertini for a 1v1 as the freshman scored his fourth goal of the season.

Bissau stopped two shots in the final three minutes to keep FLC scoreless.

Metro State will travel to UC-Colorado Springs for a noon game on Sunday.
