DENVER -
No. 16 Metro State crushed UC-Colorado Springs 5-0 on Friday at home in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener for both teams.  Metro State improved to 4-1 overall this season, while UCCS dropped to 1-4.

The Roadrunners dominated play throughout the game, but could not find the net until Steven Emory (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins H.S.) scored in the 36th minute.  Emory took the ball away from Jaron Stewart at the top of the box and fired it past UCCS goalkeeper Adam Liszewski.  The shot bounced off the right post, then off Liszewski and spun into the net.

Kevin Pocalyko (Longmont, Colo./Longmont H.S.) netted the next goal in the 68th minute, scoring off a volley from a free kick by Jack Belanger (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny H.S.) on the right side.  It was the first goal of Pocalyko's career.

Just three minutes later, Scott Grode (Gilbert, Ariz./Basha H.S.) found the net at 70:59, scoring on a breakaway after a through ball from Marc Herschberger (Westminster, Colo./Northglenn H.S.).

Emory scored again in the 82nd minute scoring through a scrum after David Toler (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia H.S.)'s cross was deflected.

Grode again score the final goal of the game in the 86th minute.  After receiving a pass from Chris Yoder (Gilbert, Ariz./Mesquite H.S.) on the right side, he dribbled to the top of the box and chipped the ball over Liszewski.

For the game, Metro State out-shot UCCS 20-7.  The Roadrunners were whistled for offsides 10 times in the game.

Issa Bissau (Denver, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) recorded his third shutout of the year in his third start, making three saves.
