MANKATO, Minn. –
Metro State hung with host No. 8 Minnesota State for the entire game, but the top-seeded Mavericks pulled away in the final minutes for a 69-65 victory in the semifinals of the NCAA Central Region Tournament in Mankato, Minn. The Roadrunners' season ended at 22-8, while MSU improved to 26-4.

A 3-pointer by #A.J. Flournoy# cut the lead to just two points at 67-65 with 59 seconds left. The Mavericks went scoreless on their next possession despite getting an offensive rebound, thanks to a pair of blocked shots by Shakir Johnson (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey H.S.).

But Reggie Evans (Aurora, Colo./Rangeview H.S.) missed two free throws with 14 seconds left, squandering a chance for the Roadrunners to tie the game. MSU's Jefferson Mason converted both of his free throw attempts with 12 seconds left to seal the game.

Evans finished with a team-high 22 points on 10-of-18 shooting and pulled down six rebounds. Flournoy finished with 12 points, hitting 3-of-6 from the floor and 5-of-6 at the line.
