COLORADO SPRINGS - Metro State suffered a 3-1 defeat on Friday evening at UC-Colorado Springs to open Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The loss dropped the Roadrunners to 2-2-1, while UCCS improved to 3-2-0.
The Mountain Lions got on the board first in the 36th minute as Kyle Lee headed in a goal.
UCCS went up 2-0 in the 55th minute on a 45-yard shot from Brett Drefs. Matt Friesen pushed the lead to 3-0, connecting on a cross just three minutes later.
Metro State finally got on the board in the 89th minute as
Marc Herschberger (Westminster, Colo./Northglenn H.S.) headed in a long pass from
Cody Melphy (Littleton, Colo./Heritage H.S.).
Metro State outshot UCCS 22-13 in the game.
The Roadrunners will play at Colorado Mesa on Sunday.
