Greenhalgh's 15 kills pace volleyball to sweep

Emily Greenhalgh (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.) had 15 kills to lead No. 9 Metro State to a 25-15, 25-12, 25-16 sweep over Black Hills State (S.D.) in non-conference action on Monday night at home.  The win improved the Roadrunners to 12-2 this season, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 3-11.

Greenhalgh hit .462 and had four digs and three blocks to lead the offense.  Bri Morley (Parker, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.) had six kills and Alysa Heath (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) and Lauren Quijano (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore H.S.) each had five.  Shayne Kovach (Fruita, Colo./Fruita Monument H.S.) was perfect with four kills in four attempts and Daleah Whitaker (Denver/Lakewood H.S.) was perfect in three attempts.

Metro State hit a season-high .408 on offense with the aid of setters Darcy Schwartzman (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest H.S.) (20 assists) and Vanessa Gemignani (Colorado Springs/Doherty H.S.) (14 assists).  BHSU was held to just a .080 attack percentage as 11 different Roadrunners combined for 32 digs and Whitaker assisted on all six of Metro State's blocks.

The Roadrunners hit .545 in the first set behind five kills in six attempts by Greenhalgh.  They actually trailed 12-8 before scoring 17 of the final 20 points of the frame.

Metro State's right side hitters dominated the second set as Heath and Quijano combined for seven kills in eight attempts in the second, helping Metro State hit .480 for the set.

Greenhalgh had six kills in the final set.

Metro State will travel to No. 8 Nebraska-Kearney on Friday.
