Volleyball knocked off by No. 8 UNK on the road

KEARNEY, Neb. -
No. 9 Metro State fell 25-10, 23-25, 25-7, 26-24 on Friday night at No. 8 Nebraska-Kearney.  The loss dropped the Roadrunners to 12-3 overall and 4-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  UNK improved to 15-1 and 5-1.

Bri Morley (Parker, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.) led the Roadrunners with 16 kills and Emily Greenhalgh (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.) had 10.  Morley had a double-double with 10 digs as well.  Ngoc Phan (Lone Tree, Colo./Cherry Creek H.S.) led the team with 22 digs.

Metro State hit a season-low .104, while UNK hit .286, the highest hitting percentage against Metro State this season.

The Roadrunners hit -.034 in the first set and -.147 as they scored the fewest points in two sets this season.  The Lopers hit .481 in the third

In the first set, UNK scored 11 straight points after trailing 3-2.  Metro State trailed 21-18 in the second before scoring six in a row.

In the fourth set, the Lopers fought off set point and then scored three straight points to win the match.

Metro State will play at Chadron State on Saturday.
