Miller's 16 leads men's hoops to largest margin of victory over Fort Lewis since 1989

Box Score DENVER - No. 4 Metro State shot 49.2 percent to coast to a 72-51 win over Fort Lewis on Friday night at the Auraria Event Center. The Roadrunners improved to 16-1 overall and 11-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while FLC fell to 8-8 and 6-6.

The 21-point win was the largest margin of victory for the Roadrunners against the Skyhawks since a 40-point win in 1989.

Demetrius Miller (Flint, Mich./Flint Central H.S.) scored a game-high 16 points, leading four Roadrunners in double figures. He shot 7-of-11 from the floor, including 2-for-2 from the outside. Jonathan Morse (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) scored 13 points and had 13 rebounds. Reggie Evans (Aurora, Colo./Rangeview H.S.) and Brandon Jefferson (Flower Mound, Texas/Lewisville H.S.) each scored 12, combining to shoot 11-of-22.

Paul Brotherson (Sydney, Australia/Westfields Sports High) also knocked down a pair of 3's for six points.

Metro played excellent defense early in the first half, keeping the Skyhawks without a field goal until Matt Billups hit a 3-pointer with 11:57 left to cut the lead to 16-5. The Roadrunners led by as many as 16 points at 21-5 with 9:42 left in the half, and took a 35-23 lead into the intermission.

FLC shot just 33.3 percent and was outrebounded 19-14, while the Roadrunners connected at 51.7 percent from the floor.

Evans led all scorers with 10 points at half.

The Roadrunners pushed their lead out to 27 points at 67-40 with 6:27 left, and maintained a 20-point margin the rest of the game.

Metro outrebounded the Skyhawks 37-30 for the game and forced 15 turnovers, holding FLC to 34.0 percent shooting.

Billups led Fort Lewis with 12 points. Torrey Udall added 10 off the bench.

Metro State will host Adams State (12-3 overall, 9-3 RMAC) at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
