DENVER - Metro State earned a sweep at home over Nebraska-Kearney, winning 15-6 in six innings and 7-3. The Roadrunners have won six of their past seven games to improve to 13-17 overall and 10-8 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. UNK dropped to 8-14 and 5-11.
Game One
The Lopers took a 6-3 lead with five runs in the top of the fourth. But Metro came storming back with three in the fourth, four in the fifth and five in the sixth.
Kelsey Tillery started the comeback with a home run to lead off the bottom of the fourth.
Aubree Maul later hit a two-run homer with two outs in the inning to tie the game at 6-6.
Maul and Tillery each had RBI singles in the fifth and
Chelsea Brew delivered a run-scoring double in the inning.
Tillery hit a two-run triple in the sixth and Maul ended the game with her second two-run homer of the game.
Maul finished 4-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs scored. Tillery was 3-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored, finishing a double shy of the cycle, and
Kasey Nichols added four hits.
Maul also earned the win, throwing all six innings.
Game Two
Jordyn Randolph allowed just five hits and three runs in the 7-3 victory.
Tillery led off the bottom of the first with a homer to right. After Nichols doubled, Maul drove her in with a single for an early 2-0 lead.
Nichols hit an RBI single to score Tillery in the second and
Molly Clark crushed a two-run homer in the third for a 5-0 lead.
The Roadrunners led 7-0 after scoring two unearned runs in the fifth, but UNK scored twice in the sixth and once in the seventh.
Metro State will host Western New Mexico for four games beginning on Saturday.
