Box Score FAYETTE, Iowa - Freshman Danny Arrubla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton H.S.) scored twice as Metro State opened the 2012 season with a 3-0 win at Upper Iowa.

Arrubla found the net at 13:28, taking a pass in the center of the box from Marc Herschberger (Westminster, Colo./Northglenn H.S.).

Andy Lopez (Phoenix/La Joya H.S.) pushed the lead to 2-0 at 25:20, heading in a corner kick.

Arrubla scored his second of the game at 65:18, putting in a rebound after Carlos Mendez (Denver, Colo./Broomfield H.S.)'s shot was saved.

Arrubla and Brenden Hughes (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge H.S.) each had a team-high six shot attempts. Mendez had two.

Goalkeeper Shailer Thomas (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington H.S.) made one save for the shutout as Metro State outshot UIU 22-6 in the game.

The Roadrunners will face University of Mary (N.D.) on Sunday in Fayette, Iowa.
