Men's soccer: Lopez makes the difference in 1-0 win at UCCS

Box Score DENVER - Andy Lopez (Phoenix/La Joya H.S.) scored at 66:03 for the only goal of the game, giving Metro State a 1-0 win at UC-Colorado Springs on Friday night. The Roadrunners improved to 8-2-3 overall and 6-1-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while UCCS fell to 3-5-3 and 2-4-3.

It was the third straight win for the Roadrunners and their second consecutive 1-0 victory after edging Adams State by one goal on Sunday.

The win also avenged a scoreless tie with the Mountain Lions earlier this season at Auraria Field.

Freshman Michael Jordahl (Denver, Colo./East H.S.) earned the assist on Lopez's goal for his first career point. He turned over a clearing attempt by UCCS and sent it into the box, and Lopez redirected the pass into the net for the score.

MSU Denver was strong on defense, allowing just three shots on goal. Keegan Hand (Loveland, Colo./Thompson Valley H.S.) stopped all three of those shots for his sixth solo shutout this season. The school's single-season record is nine.

The Roadrunners return home Sunday to face No. 22 Colorado Mines at 2:30 p.m.
