Men's soccer: Roadrunners erupt for three in second half to blank FLC

Box Score DURANGO, Colo. - Metro State scored three second-half goals to shut out Fort Lewis 3-0 on Sunday afternoon in Durango, Colo. The Roadrunners improved to 10-3-3 overall and 8-2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while FLC fell to 8-7-1 and 5-7-0.

It is the fourth straight win for MSU Denver against the Skyhawks, the longest winning streak for the Roadrunners in the series since 1992.

Jack Mayfield (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) opened the scoring just 53 seconds into the second half, scoring unassisted.

At 70:52, Brenden Hughes (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge H.S.) assisted on a score by Andy Lopez (Phoenix/La Joya H.S.) for Lopez's team-leading eighth goal this season.

Metro State stretched its lead to 3-0 at 80:10 when Michael Jordahl (Denver, Colo./East H.S.) scored his first career goal, assisted by both Mayfield and Nolan Barth (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton H.S.), who earned his first career point on the play.

James Tanner (Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens H.S.) made a career-high eight saves to earn his first career shutout in goal.

Fort Lewis outshot Metro State 18-12.

The Roadrunners will be back in action on Wednesday at home against Regis University at 3:30 p.m.
