Box Score DENVER - No. 1 Metro State defeated Colorado Christian 92-75 on Saturday night to move to 20-0 on the season and 16-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The loss dropped Colorado Christian to 11-14 overall and 6-11 in RMAC play and snapped its four-game winning streak.
Metro State was led by a game-high 23 points from
Brandon Jefferson (Flower Mound, Texas/Lewisville H.S.) on the same night when he became the 16th player in Metro State history to score at least 1,000 points. Also scoring in double figures were
Jonathan Morse (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) and
Mitch McCarron (Brisbane, Australia/Genesis Christian College) with 17 each and 11 points from
Demetrius Miller (Flint, Mich./Flint Central H.S.).
Jamal McClerkin (Van Nuys, Calif./Chaminade College Prep) added eight points and seven rebounds.
Morse also had a game-high 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season. McClerkin also tied a career high with seven rebounds on the night. In the first half, for Morse, he picked up his 900th rebound of his career which is second all-time in school history.
In the first half, the game stayed close as both teams were tied at 28 each at the 5:27 mark. However, Metro State responded by going on a 19-11 run to close the half out at 47-39. For the first half, the Roadrunners shot 48 percent from the field on 13-27 shooting while holding the Cougars to 39 percent.
Metro State held its halftime advantage in the second half as it never led by anything less than six points. The Roadrunners used a 15-1 run at the 11:06 mark to push the lead to 72-56 with 8:12 left in the first half.
Metro State maintained its double digit lead throughout the rest of the game in route to a 92-75 victory. Overall for the game the Roadrunners shot 49 percent from the field by going 19-for-38 from the field. They also made 21-for-26 at the line, 81 percent.
Colorado Christian was led by 21 points from Michael Brown.
Metro State will be back in action on Sunday night when it concludes the rest of the game against Colorado Mines starting at the 6:44 mark of the first half. The game will resume at 5 p.m.
