Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Metro State's women's basketball team was eliminated from the Division II NCAA tournament on Saturday, falling in the second round 66-52 to No. 25 Midwestern State (Texas). The Roadrunners ended their season at 22-9, while MWSU improved to 26-5. MSU Denver was the No. 6 seed in the South Central Region, while MSWU was the No. 2 seed.
The Roadrunners shot just 30.9 percent from the floor in the loss, while Midwestern State connected at a 42 percent rate.
Amy Nelson (Richmond, Utah/Sky View H.S.) led MSU Denver with 16 points on 7-of-16 shooting and pulled down 11 rebounds for her second straight double-double.
Kristin Valencia (Moriarty, N.M./Moriarty H.S.) also had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Jenessa Burke (Aurora, Colo./Highlands Ranch H.S.) added seven points off the bench and
Tai Jensen (Troy, Idaho/Troy H.S.) had six.
The Roadrunners fell behind 42-19 at halftime and trailed by 30 points with 14 minutes remaining in the game. They were able to bring the deficit back to 12 points with less than three minutes left, but were unable to recover complete.

Kristin Valencia (Moriarty, N.M./Moriarty H.S.),
Brandi Valencia (Moriarty, N.M./Moriarty H.S.) and
Emily Wood (Louisville, Colo./Monarch H.S.).
