DENVER - Metro State's volleyball team suffered two losses to top-15 teams on Friday at the Colorado Premier Challenge, falling 25-21, 25-18, 25-19 to No. 11 Angelo State (Texas) and 25-17, 25-17, 25-18 to No. 3 Nebraska-Kearney. The Roadrunners fell to 3-3 on the season. UNK improved to 5-1, while ASU is now 6-0.
Metro State was led by Alysa Heath (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) against Angelo State as she hit .435 (12-2-23), totaling 12 kills. She also had three blocks.
Defensively Alex Green (Peoria, Ariz./Cactus H.S.) paced the Roadrunners with 16 digs and Kylie Haun (Simpsonville, S.C./Hillcrest H.S.) added 15 to go with six kills.
MSU Denver hit .217 in the match, while ASU hit .325.
The Lopers quieted Heath in the second match, holding her to seven kills. But Haun picked up the offensive load, leading the team with 11 kills. Lauren Quijano (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore H.S.) also had seven kills.
Green led the defense with 17 digs.
Brandi Torr (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva H.S.) had 16 assists and Betty Van Lith (Eagle, Idaho/Eagle H.S.) had 14.
Metro State will face Florida Southern at noon at home on Saturday in the Bronze Division.
