Men's soccer: Metro State plays to scoreless draw

Box Score DENVER - Metro State's men's soccer team tied UC-Colorado Springs 0-0 on Friday at Auraria Field in Denver. The Roadrunners are now 2-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while UCCS is 1-1-1 and 0-0-1.

It was the first scoreless draw for MSU Denver since 2010.

Keegan Hand (Loveland, Colo./Thompson Valley H.S.) made two saves and his defense came up with a pair more as Andrew Mejia (Littleton, Colo./Mullen H.S.) and Tyler Trujillo (Denver, Colo./Mullen H.S.) both cleared balls off the goal line that were headed for the net.

Mejia's bicycle kick off the goal line in the 65th minute kept the game scoreless in the best scoring chance for either team in the game.

UCCS goalkeeper Brandon Costa stopped three shots to preserve his own shutout.

The Mountain Lions outshot the Roadrunners 18-15 in the game. Neither team put a shot on frame in the first half.

Metro State will play at Regis at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
