DURANGO, Colo. - No. 19 Metropolitan State University of Denver gave up a two-goal lead late in the second half, but recovered for a 3-2 overtime win at Fort Lewis on Friday.The Roadrunners improved to 8-2-0 overall and 5-2-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while FLC dropped to 7-4-0 and 5-2-0.
Pierce Galan (Phoenix/Seton Catholic H.S.) started the scoring at 18:08, heading in a corner kick from
Dustin Berg (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County H.S.).
Berg scored a goal of his own at 37:30, scoring from the center of the box.
The score remained 2-0 until 67:40 when the Skyhawks got on the board with a goal from Yannis Becker.
FLC tied the game at 81:40 on a shot from inside the 6-yard box as Luke Lawrence finished a cross from Cesar Castillo.
The Roadrunners regrouped in overtime, scoring the game-winner off a corner kick. The goal was credited as an own goal.
James Tanner (Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens H.S.) made three saves in goal as MSU Denver. The shots were even 16-16 for both sides.
MSU Denver will play at Adams State on Sunday.
