DENVER - No. 21 Metropolitan State University of Denver rallied for a 25-23, 16-25, 14-25, 25-20, 15-12 over crosstown rival Regis University on Saturday afternoon at the Auraria Event Center. The Roadrunners swept the season series with the Rangers for the first time since 2011 and improved to 19-3 overall and 13-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Regis fell to 14-8 and 9-5.

The Rangers outhit MSU Denver .319-to-.288 in the match, but the Roadrunners dominated at the net with 12.5 blocks and committed fewer errors in the service game.

Kylie Haun (Simpsonville, S.C./Hillcrest H.S.) led MSU Denver with 13 kills and hit .303, adding eight digs defensively.
Abbie Noland (Martinez, Calif./Campolindo H.S.) had 12 kills and
Kylee Hoagland (Mead, Colo./Skyline H.S.) hit .526 with 11 kills and three blocks.
Julia Dorsey (Auburn, Calif./Placer H.S.) had career highs of eight kills and eight blocks, while hitting .533.
Lauren Quijano (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore H.S.) chipped in with seven kills, including four in the fifth set.

Savannah Garcia (Platteville, Colo./Valley H.S.) had a team-high 17 digs and setter
Brandi Torr (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva H.S.) had 14.

Both offenses were outstanding in the first set as the Roadrunners hit .452 and Regis hit .441. MSU Denver led 20-16 before the Rangers rallied to even the score at 21-21. Coming out of a timeout, the Rangers served the first ball into the net and Haun had kills for two of the final three points.

MSU Denver's offense slipped in the second set as the Roadrunners hit just .189.

In the third set, the Rangers hit .667, overcoming a strong offensive set by MSU Denver as the Roadrunners hit .476.

MSU Denver's defense recovered in the fourth set, limiting the Rangers to a .043 hitting percentage. The Roadrunners never trailed in the set and led by as many as six points.

Greager served three straight points and Quijano came out on fire with three kills as MSU Denver took a 5-2 lead in the fifth set. The lead remained three at 8-5 on the side switch, but Regis tied it up at 11-11. With the score tied 12-12, the Rangers served a ball long. Haun followed with a kill across the court and the match ended with a combined block by Hoagland and
Betty Van Lith (Eagle, Idaho/Eagle H.S.).
