GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Kevin Escobar scored twice for Colorado Mesa as the Mavericks upset No. 12 Metropolitan State University of Denver 2-1 in Grand Junction, Colo., on Friday night. The Roadrunners dropped to 6-2-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with their second straight loss, while CMU improved to 6-2-1 and 4-1-0.

Escobar twice finished crosses in the box, scoring at 36:18 and 54:31.

Josh Belfrage (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista H.S.) cut the deficit in half at 70:04, heading in cross from Dustin Berg (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County H.S.).

Charlie D'Adamio (Denver, Colo./Dakota Ridge H.S.) made five saves for the Roadrunners.

MSU Denver will host Colorado School of Mines on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
