Women's soccer: Hagenlock gives Roadrunners win to wrap up regular season

DENVER - Tess Hagenlock (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman H.S.) scored 7:29 into the first overtime period to give No. 8 Metropolitan State University of Denver a 2-1 victory over Western State on Friday afternoon at The Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver. The Roadrunners improved to 13-1-4 overall and 10-0-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while WSCU fell to 6-6-5 and 3-6-4. MSU Denver can win the RMAC regular season title with a loss or tie by No. 15 Colorado School of Mines against Fort Lewis on Sunday, otherwise the Roadrunners will finish second.

Abby Rolph (Golden, Colo./Golden H.S.) dribbled to the baseline just left of the goal before centering the ball in front of the net. Hagenlock scored on a one-touch shot from six yards out.

MSU Denver trailed early, giving up a goal in the 10th minute after a failed clearance by the defense gave Sadie Stark an open shot from the center of the box after a centering pass from Elyza Montano.

Noemy Polanco (Long Beach, Calif./Lakewood H.S.) evened the score in the 31st minute, heading in Rolph's corner kick. It was the fourth multi-assist game of Rolph's career.

The Roadrunners allowed just four total shots in the game and Breanna Flores (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert H.S.) stopped two of the three shots that were on goal.

MSU Denver will play in the semifinals of the RMAC tournament next Friday. The site will be at the No. 1 seed, determined on Sunday.
