DENVER - Metropolitan State University of Denver opened the season with an 85-59 win over Baker University (Kan.) on Friday night at the Auraria Event Center. Baker fell to 2-1.

Freshmen
Hannah Stipanovich (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton H.S.) and
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) led the Roadrunners, scoring 22 and 19 points, respectively. Stipanovich played just 13 minutes, but made 7-of-13 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the line, adding eight rebounds. Ohrdorf sunk all 13 of her free throw attempts and also had eight rebounds and two blocked shots.

Deni Jacobs (Plains, Kan./Southwestern Heights H.S.) poured in 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Kaysha Fox (Tacoma, Wash./Woodrow Wilson H.S.) scored nine and
Brittany Curl (Absarokee, Mont./Absarokee H.S.) had seven in reserve roles.

The Roadrunners outrebounded BU 56-to-52 and committed just eight turnovers in the game.

MSU Denver used a 12-4 run midway through the first half to build a double-digit lead and led Baker 35-26 at halftime behind 15 points from Ohrdorf.

The Roadrunners led by double digits for the final 15 minutes, building their lead to as many as 29 points.

MSU Denver will host Southern Oregon at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
