DENVER - No. 14/24 Metropolitan State University of Denver won 77-45 over Black Hills State on Saturday at the Auraria Event Center behind a combined 48 points from
Nicholas Kay (Tamworth, Australia/Newington College) and
Mitch McCarron (Brisbane, Australia/Genesis Christian College). The Roadrunners improved to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. BHSU fell to 3-8 and 1-4.

Kay finished with a game-high 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting, while grabbing seven rebounds. McCarron hit all 10 of his free throw attempts and scored 22 points and had a game-high eight rebounds.
Dalante Dunklin (San Diego, Calif./Francis W. Parker H.S.) added eight points and five assists.

A swarming Roadrunners defense limited the Yellow Jackets to 29 percent shooting, the first time MSU Denver has held an opponent under 30 percent shooting since 2012.

MSU Denver held the Yellow Jackets to 22 percent shooting in the first half to lead 40-20 at halftime. Kay had 15 points and McCarron had 12 as the two made all eight of their free throws.

The Roadrunners led by as many as 33 points in the second half.

Myles Henry led Black Hills State with 11 points.
