TOPEKA, Kan. – Metro State softball split a non-conference double header on the road March 26 against the Washburn University Ichobods. The Roadrunners won the first game 5-4 then fell 12-4 in five innings in the second game.
The Lady Blues got off to a quick start in the first game with a homerun by second baseman Katie Schroeder. But the Roadrunners capitalized on an error by Schroeder in the bottom of the second inning, and taking the lead 3-1. Metro State third baseman

Chelsea Brew scored the final run of the inning. Metro State added two more in the fifth to take a 5-1 lead. Washburn cut the lead to 5-4 in the sixth inning on a three-run homer by Deidra Jones.

Kelsey Tillery singled up the middle, sending leftfielder
Britney Thomas and short stop
Susie Oury home. Towner singled through the left side, batting in Tillery. In the second inning, Oury reached on a throwing error and advanced to second. Bakovich advanced to third then scored on the error.
Metro State improves to 14-8 overall.
