DENVER - Metro State's tennis teams fell to Colorado Mesa at home on Saturday on Senior Day with the men falling 5-4 and the women dropping a 7-2 decision. The men's team fell to 11-10 overall this season in 3-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference; the women's team is now 4-17 and 0-5 in the RMAC.

The men's team put itself in a 3-0 hole after doubles. With losses at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, Metro State nearly pulled off the huge comeback, winning the rest of its singles matches. Nick Baker (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit West H.S.) won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3, John Qualls (Henderson, Nev./Foothill H.S.) earned a three-set win at No.4 and Chris Anderson (El Paso, Texas/Americas H.S.) and Trevor Jones (Vancouver, Wash./Mountain View H.S.) won in straight sets at No. 5 and No. 6. Josh Graetz (Albury, Australia/The Scots School), who had his school-record winning streak snapped on Friday, lost in three sets to 28th-ranked Jordan Lyden at No. 1 singles.

For the women, Wanda Holopainen (Lahti, Finland/Salpausselän H.S.) and Cristina Oropeza (Nogales, Ariz./Nogales H.S.) won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles and Holopainen earned a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles.
