Box Score AUSTIN, Texas - Four different players scored for Metropolitan State University of Denver as the Roadrunners defeated Dallas Baptist 4-1 on Monday in Austin, Texas. The Roadrunners are now 3-0-0 on the season, while DBU fell to 2-3-0. It's the first 3-0 start to the season since 2010 for the Roadrunners.
Dustin Berg (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County H.S.) got the Roadrunners on the board first, scoring off his own rebound at 12:31. Just over 30 seconds later, the Patriots answered to tie the game at 1-1.
It was all MSU Denver from there, however.
Jack Mayfield (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) blasted a goal into the upper-right corner of the net from 15 yards out at 38:51 to put the Roadrunners back in front.
Josh Belfrage (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista H.S.), who assisted on Mayfield's goal, scored at 63:44, heading in a free kick from
Pierce Galan (Phoenix/Seton Catholic H.S.).
Danny Arrubla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton H.S.) provided one more insurance goal at 88:07, a one-touch shot off a cross from
Carlos Diego Luna (Thornton, Colo./Mountain Range H.S.).
James Tanner (Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens H.S.) made one save for the Roadrunners.
MSU Denver outshot DBU 20-8 in the game.
MSU Denver will open conference play on Friday at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs at 5 p.m.
