Box Score LAS VEGAS, N.M. - Summer Greager (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado Springs Christian H.S.) had 12 kills and 10 digs as Metropolitan State University of Denver earned a 25-20, 18-25, 25-11, 25-13 win at New Mexico Highlands on Thursday to open Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The Roadrunners improved to 7-2 overall this season, while the Cowgirls dropped to 4-6. It was MSU Denver's 17th consecutive win over Highlands.
Greager's double-double was her second this season. She also had five service aces, leading the Roadrunners to nine as a team.
Kylie Haun (Simpsonville, S.C./Hillcrest H.S.) had 11 kills, five digs, two aces and two blocks.
Lauren Quijano (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore H.S.) came off the bench to collect eight kills in two sets played.
Michaela Smith (Littleton, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) had seven kills and
Kylee Hoagland (Mead, Colo./Skyline H.S.) added five.
Betty Van Lith (Eagle, Idaho/Eagle H.S.) led the Roadrunners with 23 set assists, playing the first two sets.
Brandi Torr (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva H.S.) relieved her in the third and finished with 22 in the final two frames. The two helped the Roadrunners hit a season-high .310.
Defensively,
Savannah Garcia (Platteville, Colo./Valley H.S.) paced the team with 13 digs.
After splitting the first two sets, MSU Denver jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the third set and never looked back for a 2-1 lead in the match. Tied 5-5 in the fourth, the Roadrunners scored eight straight points with
Jackie Lopez (Encino, Calif./Notre Dame H.S.) serving to lead 13-5.
MSU Denver will play at Colorado State-Pueblo at 7 p.m. on Friday.
