DENVER - Metropolitan State University of Denver won its seventh straight match Saturday afternoon, sweeping Western New Mexico 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 at the Auraria Event Center. MSU Denver improved to 12-2 overall and 6-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while WNMU fell to 4-7 and 1-3.

The last time the Roadrunners started RMAC play 6-0 was 2002.

Brandi Torr (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva H.S.) was unbelievable at setter, despite splitting time with
Betty Van Lith (Eagle, Idaho/Eagle H.S.). Torr had 45 assists and Van Lith added three to help the team hit .279 in the match. Both setters had one kill.

Lauren Quijano (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore H.S.) hit .407 and had a match-high 15 kills.
Kylie Haun (Simpsonville, S.C./Hillcrest H.S.) had a double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs and
Michaela Smith (Littleton, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) provided 13 kills.

Savannah Garcia (Platteville, Colo./Valley H.S.) had a match-high 14 digs and was 31-for-31 in serve-receive, while adding three assists.
Jackie Lopez (Encino, Calif./Notre Dame H.S.) added nine, helping the Roadrunners hold the Mustangs to a .198 hitting percentage.

The Roadrunners had 19 kills in the first set, including six by Quijano and Smith each.

In the second set, MSU Denver hit .342, using a six-point run to break a 15-15 tie and take control of the set.
