GUNNISON, Colo. - Metropolitan State University of Denver held Western State to just 26.3 percent shooting to earn a 60-46 win on Saturday night in Gunnision, Colorado. The Roadrunners improved to 11-6 overall and 8-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while WSCU fell to 4-13 and 3-10.
Deni Jacobs (Plains, Kan./Southwestern Heights H.S.) made 10-of-11 free throws and scored 16 points to lead the Roadrunners offensively. She also had eight rebounds. Her 10 free throws were the most for a Roadrunner in a game since
Caley Dow in 2012.
Brittany Curl (Absarokee, Mont./Absarokee H.S.) was hot from the outside, connecting on all three of her 3-point attempts to score 11 points off the bench.
Jenae Paine (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City H.S.) hit a pair of 3-point shots and scored nine points.
Emily Hartegan (Frisco, Texas/Wylie East H.S.) added eight points off the bench.
Luisa Tago (Medford, Ore./South Medford H.S.) led MSU Denver with nine rebounds and four assists.
The Roadrunners led 28-19 at halftime and their lead hovered around 10 points for the majority of the second half.
In addition to holding the Mountaineers to just 26.3 percent shooting, MSU Denver outrebounded them 49-to-33.
Jade McIntosh led WSCU with 15 points.
The Roadrunners will play at Chadron State on Friday.
