SPEARFISH, S.D. - Metropolitan State University of Denver fell 59-53 at Black Hills State on Saturday night. The Roadrunners fell to 11-8 overall and 8-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while BHSU improved to 11-8 and 9-6.
Deni Jacobs (Plains, Kan./Southwestern Heights H.S.) scored a game-high 17 points, making 9-of-9 free throws.
Jenae Paine (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City H.S.) buried 3-of-5 from 3-point range for nine points.
Brittany Curl (Absarokee, Mont./Absarokee H.S.) scored eight points off the bench, connecting on 6-of-7 at the line.
The Roadrunners shot 36 percent in the game, while holding BHSU to 39 percent. The rebounding was even 31-31 each. MSU Denver also hit 17-of-20 at the free throw line.
MSU Denver trails 29-25 at halftime. The Roadrunners opened the second half with five early points to take a one-point lead, but the Yellow Jackets used a 13-2 run to build a 10-point lead with 11:26 remaining and led for the rest of the game.
Chelsey Biegler led BHSU with 11 points.
MSU Denver will host Colorado School of Mines at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
