RAPID CITY, S.D. - Metropolitan State University of Denver earned its 10th win of the season on Sunday in a 4-0 victory at South Dakota Mines in Rapid City, S.D. The Roadrunners improved to 10-3-1 this season, marking the 13th consecutive season they have won 10+ games. The next-closest Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference school is Colorado School of Mines with seven straight seasons of 10+ wins. SDSMT fell to 1-12-1 with the loss on Sunday.
Jeff Gillis (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill H.S.) opened the scoring in the 25th minute to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 lead.
The Roadrunners opened the second half with an early goal off an own goal scored by the Hardrockers.
Ethan Ramsey (Peoria, Ariz./Sandra Day O'Connor H.S.) pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 52nd minute, earning his second and third points of the game after assisting on Gilis's goal.
Jack Mayfield (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) added an insurance goal in the 86th minute.
Metro State outshot South Dakota Mines 17-3 in the game and
Hayden Rus (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert H.S.) stopped the two shots on goal by the Hardrockers.
The Roadrunners will host Westminster (Utah) at 7 p.m. on Friday.
