DENVER – The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's soccer team defeated Westminster College 2-1 on Friday night. The Roadrunners move to 11-3-1 overall while the Griffins fall to 10-2-1.
The Roadrunners had 22 shots compared to the Griffins 4 for the game.
Josh Belfrage (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista H.S.) scored MSU Denver's first goal in the 20th minute. He scored on a breakaway goal on a pass from
Jack Mayfield (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.). The ball hit the goalie's hands and then rolled into the net.
Danny Arrubla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton H.S.) scored the Roadrunners second goal in the 63rd minute on a penalty shot against the Griffins.
Westminster scored late in the game when Jordan Jones shot and scored on a breakaway in the 71st minute.
The Roadrunners will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. against Colorado Mesa University.
