DENVER- The MSU Denver women's soccer team lost 4-0 against Colorado Mesa University on Sunday. The Roadrunners are now 5-5-3, while the Mavericks are 2-9-4.
The Mavericks came out strong, scoring a goal within the first six minutes of the game. Lauren Thompson headed a pass from Jessie Parra into the goal. The Mavericks were pretty quiet the rest of the first half but returned in the second half to score three more goals. Brooklynn Meinke scored all three; the first was a breakaway goal after a pass from Sarah Pope. The second was a breakaway goal on a broken play after a pass from Haley Glassy. The final was also a breakaway goal on a broken play after a pass from Pope.
The Roadrunners were outshot 20-8.
Breanna Flores (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert H.S.) made seven saves during the game.
The Roadrunners will take to the road, playing at Regis University on October 21 at 7 p.m.
