Box Score Denver – The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team fell 2-1 at Regis University on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match. The loss drops the Roadrunners to 5-6-3 overall on the season.
The Roadrunners fell behind 1-0 in the 27th minute when Maggie Saras scored her first goal of the season on a pass in the box from Mickie Piechowski. The Rangers followed up with their second goal just prior to halftime. Maison O'Neill scored on a header coming off of a corner kick in the 43rd minute making the score 2-0 at the break.
MSU Denver was able to rally late in the game scoring in the 68th minute to make the score 2-1. Freshman
Reigna Banks (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.) tallied her fourth goal of the season when she took the ball up the middle beating the goalie in a one-on-one situation.
The Roadrunners outshot the Rangers 17-15 on the day and also tallied more shots on goal, 8-6 . MSU Denver was unable to convert opportunities early in the contest. The Roadrunners took five shots in the first 12 minutes of the game.
MSU Denver will return to action on Friday, Oct. 23 when the team will face Adams State in Alamosa, Colo. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
