Denver - The Metropolitan State University of Denver volleyball team defeated Regis Friday night 3-1. The Roadrunners move to 15-9 overall and 11-3 in the RMAC while the Rangers fall to 13-10 overall and 10-4 in RMAC play.

The Roadrunners went up early in the first set 14-7, led by junior
Michaela Smith (Littleton, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.)'s five kills. Â The Roadrunners hit .364 in the set while holding the Rangers to .143. Â The Roadrunners were active defensively with four team blocks to the Rangers one.

MSU Denver had a slow start in the second set letting the Rangers take an early 5-1 lead.  MSU Denver's hitting percentage fell to .143. The Rangers took the set 25-17.

The Roadrunners and the Rangers had a battle in the third set keeping the score tight for the duration. Â MSU Denver hit .243 while holding Regis to .132. Â The Roadrunners won the set 25-23.

Regis took an early fourth set lead 7-3 before MSU Denver came back 15-11. The Roadrunners eventually went on to win the set 25-16. Â The Rangers had their worst hitting percentage of the match at .094 while the Roadrunners hit .300.

The Roadrunners will be back in action on Saturday Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. against Chadron State.Â
