Pueblo, Colo. – The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball team was defeated by Texas A&M-Commerce 62-59 on Friday night in the season opener for the Roadrunners.
The Roadrunners trailed 50-39 going into the fourth quarter. MSU Denver was able to outscore Texas A&M-Commerce 20-12 in the final period. Sophomore
J'Nae Squires-Horton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek H.S.) attempted a three-point shot with two seconds remaining that would have tied the game.
MSU Denver was able to hold Texas A&M-Commerce without a three-point field goal in the contest. Texas A&M-Commerce was 0-for-12 from three-point range. The Roadrunners were outrebounded 44-36 in the game and gave up 18 second chance points.
Sophomore
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) led MSU Denver in points and rebounds. Oherdorf scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Fellow sophomores
Hannah Stipanovich (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton H.S.) and
Emily Hartegan (Wylie, Texas/Wylie East H.S.) were each in double-figures scoring 13 points and 12 points, respectively.
MSU Denver will face Lubbock Christian on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m. in Pueblo, Colo.
