Men’s Basketball: Double-Double By Harris Not Enough For Roadrunners

MSU Denver fell at Arkansas-Fort Smith on Saturday night 76-66

Fort Smith, Ark. – The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's basketball team fell to Arkansas-Fort Smith on Saturday night 76-66 despite a double-double effort by junior Andre Harris (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb H.S.).  The Roadrunners fall to 0-2 on the season.

Harris posted 13 points and 12 rebounds in the game.  Sophomore Peter Møller (Værløse, Denmark/Falkonergårdens Gymnasium) led the team in scoring with 18 points and senior Eric Rayer (Colorado Springs/Coronado H.S.) added 10 points.

The Roadrunners held a 32-31 lead at the half in a back-and-forth game.  MSU Denver held a one-point lead at the 19:14 mark of the second half after Rayer hit a layup.  The Roadrunners offense would then be silent for over six minutes until Rayer would connect on a jumper to make the score 42-36 in favor of Arkansas-Fort Smith.

Arkansas-Fort Smith outrebounded MSU Denver in the game 38-36, however, the Roadrunners did grab 13 offensive boards and put up 12 second chance points compared to only seven for Arkansas-Fort Smith.

MSU Denver will travel to Caldwell, Idaho for two games on Nov. 20-21.  The Roadrunners will face Eastern Oregon on Friday, Nov. 20 and College of Idaho on Saturday, Nov. 21.
