Kenzie Mattey (Parker, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.) pitched eight 2/3 shutout innings as No. 25 Metropolitan State University of Denver swept Colorado Christian 8-0 (5 innings) and 4-2 in a doubleheader Friday at the Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver. With the victories, MSU Denver improves to 10-4 on the season, 2-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. With the losses Colorado Christian falls to 3-11, 0-2 in the RMAC.

Mattey, the two-time reigning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference pitcher of the week, scattered four hits and four walks in eight and 2/3 innings, striking out eight in the doubleheader. She earned the win in both games, stranding two runners in a relief appearance in Game 2.

Carissa Terry (Moreno Valley, Calif./Valley View H.S.) helped the Roadrunners get on the board with a one-out solo home run in the second inning, the first hit at the Regency Athletic Complex.
Susie Oury (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) singled home
Sarena Espinoza (Corona, Calif./Corona Centennial H.S.) to take a 2-0 lead in the third inning. The lead then stretched to 5-0 with the help of two Cougar errors. Terry then drove home
Lani Redmond (Chandler, Ariz./Corona del Sol H.S.) with an RBI single to help push the lead to 6-0 for a five-run third inning.

MSU Denver added two more runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 8. Oury finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Terry and Espinoza finished 2-for-2 with Terry driving in two runs and
Mary Towner (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) drove in three runs.

In game two, Colorado Christian opened up with a 1-0 lead in the first inning. MSU Denver tied it up in the second inning on a throwing error by the Cougars catcher when Harmon and Redmond attempted a double steal. Colorado Christian then quickly regained the lead 2-1 in the third inning.

Mattey come on in the fourth inning with runners on first and second and one out and held CCU scoreless the rest of the way.

Chelsea Brew (Colorado Springs/Rampart H.S.) reached on an error by the pitcher in the fifth inning, Espinoza then tied it at 2-2 with a two-out triple scoring Brew.
Britney Thomas (Cheyenne, Wyo./East H.S.) reached third base on an error by the center fielder in the sixth inning, when Harmon then ripped a ball over the right field fence to help the Roadrunners take the lead at 4-2.
