Softball: Roadrunners drop two at Adams State

ALAMOSA, Colo. - Metropolitan State University of Denver dropped a doubleheader at Adams State on Saturday, falling 7-6 in nine innings and 6-4. The losses dropped the Roadrunners to 10-6 overall and 2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while ASU improved to 5-9 and 3-5.

MSU Denver led 4-0 after the top of the first in Game 1, highlighted by a pair of doubles from Kaylynn Harmon (Erie, Colo./Erie H.S.) and Lani Redmond (Chandler, Ariz./Corona del Sol H.S.).

The Grizzlies rallied to tie the game at 6-6 in the bottom of the fifth and the teams remained tied heading into extra innings. Erika Ecsedy led off the bottom of the ninth with a double and scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly.

Cassidy Smith (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) pitched all 8 1/3 innings, allowing four earned runs.

In Game 2, the Roadrunners twice rallied from a deficit to tie, but never led again after taking a 1-0 lead in the first.

Mary Towner (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) finished with three hits and Britney Thomas (Cheyenne, Wyo./East H.S.) had two. Annika Anderson (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) provided a pinch hit, RBI double in the fifth.
