DURANGO, Colo. - Fort Lewis used a 15-2 run late in the second half to pull away for a 64-49 win over Metropolitan State University of Denver on Friday night in Durango, Colorado. The Roadrunners fell to 13-10 overall and 10-9 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while FLC improved to 14-9 and 11-8.
The Roadrunners were cold from the field all night, shooting just 27 percent in the game. But their strong defense kept the in the game until late as FLC did not hit a 3-pointer until 5:49 was left in the game.
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) led MSU Denver with 13 points and eight rebounds. She shot 6-of-10 from the floor.
Hannah Stipanovich (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton H.S.) provided 11 points off the bench.
Jenae Paine (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City H.S.) scored nine points and
Brittany Curl (Absarokee, Mont./Absarokee H.S.) had eight.
MSU Denver trailed 31-24 at halftime, but rallied to keep the game close most of the second half. The game was tied 41-41 with 8:59 left after a free throw from Ohrdorf. The Skyhawks held a 47-45 lead with 6:43 left when they went on their 15-2 run.
The Roadrunners will play at Adams State on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
