DENVER - Metropolitan State University of Denver scored seven runs in the second inning to win 10-1 over Colorado Christian on Friday at The Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver. The Roadrunners improved to 5-8 overall, while CCU fell to 7-10.
MSU Denver connected for six doubles in the second inning.
Alex Walker (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) and
Trent Maloney (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County H.S.) each hit two-run doubles during the inning and
Andrew Paust (Parker, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.),
Mitch Gibbons (Franktown, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.) and
Jake Thurston (Centennial, Colo./Grandview H.S.) also drove in runs with doubles during the second.
Jeff Levett (Parker, Colo./Chaparral H.S.) hit a solo home run in the sixth and
Hunter Donaldson (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge H.S.) hit a two-run shot in the seventh for the final two runs. Levett finished 3-for-4 and Donaldson had two hits.
Meanwhile,
Kris Lalk (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain H.S.) tossed a complete game, throwing all nine innings, while scattering six hits and striking out five. He did not walk a batter.
The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday.
