GOLDEN, Colo. - No. 25 Metropolitan State University of Denver swept a doubleheader at Colorado School of Mines on Saturday, winning 13-3 and 9-3 in Golden. The Roadrunners improved to 19-7 overall and 10-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSM fell to 3-24 and 1-12.
Kaylynn Harmon (Erie, Colo./Erie H.S.) had eight runs batted in on the day, including going 3-for-3 with five RBIs in the first game.
Mary Towner (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) was also 3-for-3 in Game 1 and scored four runs, while finishing a triple shy of the cycle.
Lani Redmond (Chandler, Ariz./Corona del Sol H.S.),
Carissa Terry (Moreno Valley, Calif./Valley View H.S.) and
Britney Thomas (Cheyenne, Wyo./East H.S.) each had two hits.
Cassidy Smith (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) pitched all seven innings, scattering eight hits for the win.
MSU Denver had four multi-run innings.
Again it was Harmon doing the damage in Game 2, going 1-for-3 with three RBIs.
Susie Oury (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) was 3-for-4 and was a home run shy of the cycle.
Chelsea Brew (Colorado Springs/Rampart H.S.) and
Colissa Bakovich (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) each had two hits.
The Roadrunners broke the game open in the sixth with four runs as Harmon delivered a two-run single and
Sarena Espinoza (Corona, Calif./Corona Centennial H.S.) ripped a two-run double to left-center.
Nicole Larsen (Murrieta, Calif./Bloomington H.S.), coming off a no-hitter on Tuesday, allowed two runs in six innings to improve to 6-1 this season.
The two teams will meet for another doubleheader at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
