GOLDEN, Colo. - No. 25 Metropolitan State University of Denver hit three home runs in Game 1 to give the Roadrunners a split at Colorado School of Mines, winning 10-2 in six innings before a 7-5 loss on a walk-off home run. The Roadrunners are now 20-8 overall and 11-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSM is 4-25 and 2-13.
Susie Oury (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.),
Kaylynn Harmon (Erie, Colo./Erie H.S.) and
Sarena Espinoza (Corona, Calif./Corona Centennial H.S.) all homered in Game 1. Espinoza,
Carissa Terry (Moreno Valley, Calif./Valley View H.S.) and
Colissa Bakovich (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) all had two hits each.
Mary Towner (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.), Terry and Espinoza all had doubles in a four-run sixth inning.
Cassidy Smith (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) scattered eight hits to earn the win.
Towner hit a two-run home run in the first inning and the Roadrunners led 5-2 after the top of the fifth, but Mines rallied to tie the game with three in the bottom of the inning. Elise Dugwyler ripped a two-run with one out in the bottom of the seventh to give the Orediggers the win.
MSU Denver will host New Mexico Highlands and Black Hills State next weekend.
