PUEBLO, Colo. - Chris Spirek (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) hit an inside-the-park home run on Sunday in Metropolitan State University of Denver's 8-5 loss at No. 13 Colorado State-Pueblo. The Roadrunners fell to 9-12 overall and 4-8 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSUP improved to 21-3 and 13-1.
With one out after a leadoff single by
Alex Walker (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) in the third inning, Spirek hit a line drive to center that took a wicked hop over the center fielder's head, leading to the inside-the-park home run to tie the game at 2-2.
Hunter Donaldson (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge H.S.) hit an RBI double in the fourth and a run-scoring single by in the eighth.
Darryl Baca (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) also drove in a run with a double in the ninth.
MSU Denver will play at Regis University next weekend.
