DENVER - Metropolitan State University of Denver's men's and women's tennis teams both shut out Hastings College 9-0 on Saturday at The Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver, while the women dropped a 5-4 decision to Holy Names (Calif.) in the morning. The Roadrunners men are now 8-7 on the season, while the women improved to 3-9.
All six men's singles players won in straight sets and
Josh Graetz (Albury, Australia/The Scots School) and
Nick Baker (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit West H.S.) earned a dominating 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.
Courtney Wright (Houston, Texas/Memorial H.S.) and
Kasey Love (Daytona Beach, Fla./Spruce Creek H.S.) were both perfect on the day for the women's team. Wright earned a 6-4, 6-2 win against Holy Names in singles action and Love won 6-4, 6-1. Wright paired with
Ana-Jelena Vujosevic (Milano, Italy/Skednja Ekonomska Skola) to win doubles matches vs. both Hastings and Holy Names, as did the doubles pair of Love and
Haleigh Chobanian (St. Louis, Mo./Lafayette H.S.).
All six women's singles players breezed to straight-set victories against Hastings.
The women will play at Air Force on Sunday evening and both squads will host Montana State-Billings on Friday in conference play.
