DENVER - Nicholas Kay (Tamworth, Australia/Newington College) had 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 12/10 Metropolitan State University of Denver to a 67-56 win over Colorado State-Pueblo on Friday night in the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament. The Roadrunners improved to 26-4 overall this season and will face No. 21/20 University of Colorado Colorado Springs in the championship on Saturday at 8 p.m. CSU-Pueblo fell to 21-9.

Kay shot 54 percent from the field, and also had three assists and two blocks.
Mitch McCarron (Brisbane, Australia/Genesis Christian College) had 23 points including going 9-for-9 at the free throw line. He also had six rebounds and four assists.
Eric Rayer (Colorado Springs/Coronado H.S.) had six points.
DeShawn Phenix (Fort Worth, Texas/North Crowley H.S.) had five points.
Sam Porter (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) had five rebounds.

Kay led all scorers in the first half with 14 points. McCarron had seven points. The Roadrunners shot 40 percent from the field and forced seven Thunderwolves turnovers in the first half. CSU- Pueblo shot 7-of-13 from 3-point range to help take a 31-26 halftime lead. Â Â

MSU Denver used an 11-0 run midway through the second half to lead 44-38 with 9:44 remaining. The Roadrunners took their first lead of the game at 39-38 with 11:33 to go after a layup by
Will Sinclair (Lilydale, Australia/Lilydale Heights College). The ThunderWolves never led again.

Bronson Moton and Odessa Lear led the Thunderwolves in scoring with 14 and 12 points.

MSU Denver will play for the RMAC championship tomorrow night as they battle UCCS at 8 p.m.
