GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Metropolitan State University of Denver dropped a doubleheader at No. 3/2 Colorado Mesa on Sunday, falling 2-0 and 6-2. The Roadrunners fell to 5-7 overall and 0-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CMU improved to 15-2 and 7-0.
Mike Thill (Littleton, Colo./Columbine H.S.) threw a gem for the Roadrunners in Game 1, pitching a complete game, allowing just four hits and zero walks, while striking out four. He surrendered just a two-run home run in the fourth inning.
Andrew Paust (Parker, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.) had two of the team's four hits.
Hunter Donaldson (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge H.S.) and
Jeff Levett (Parker, Colo./Chaparral H.S.) each drove in a run with a base hit in Game 2.
Julian Garcia (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge H.S.) lasted 5 2/3 on the mound, allowing four earned runs.
The teams will meet for one game on Monday.
