SILVER CITY, N.M. - Metropolitan State University of Denver's men's tennis team split two matches on the road on Friday, falling 8-1 at No. 33 Western New Mexico before a 6-1 victory over Colorado State-Pueblo in Silver City, New Mexico. The women's team fell 7-2 at WNMU and 6-3 to CSU-Pueblo.
Josh Graetz (Albury, Australia/The Scots School) had a perfect day for the men's team in singles, winning both of his matches at No. 1 singles in straight sets.
Calum Hayes (Leeds, England/Guiseley H.S.) and
John Qualls (Henderson, Nev./Foothill H.S.) both earned singles wins against CSU-Pueblo before the match was called due to darkness, and MSU Denver swept the doubles matches as well.
Kasey Love (Daytona Beach, Fla./Spruce Creek H.S.) picked up a singles win at No. 2 against the Mustangs, winning 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
Courtney Wright (Houston, Texas/Memorial H.S.) and
Ana-Jelena Vujosevic (Milano, Italy/Skednja Ekonomska Skola) combined for a doubles win at No. 2 as well. It was that same doubles pair picking up a win against CSU-Pueblo, while Wright and
Haleigh Chobanian (St. Louis, Mo./Lafayette H.S.) earned singles wins against the ThunderWolves.
MSU Denver will host Colorado College at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
