DENVER - Metropolitan State University of Denver saw its winning streaks come to an end on Tuesday night as Regis University won 3-2 at The Regency Athletic Complex in non-conference action. The Roadrunners fell to 20-14 overall, while the Rangers improved to 15-22.
The loss snapped a nine-game winning streak and a 17-game home winning streak, the second-longest home winning streak in school history.
MSU Denver led 2-0 after four innings as
Chris Spirek (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) drove in a run drove in
Nick Comito (Lakewood, Colo./Mullen H.S.) with a ground out in the third and
Nick Juhl (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley H.S.) hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth to bring home
Hunter Donaldson (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge H.S.).
The Rangers took a 3-2 lead on a two-run home run in the top of the eighth by Ty Oberboe.
Ryan Baca (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.),
Josh Moore (Grand Junction, Colo./Grand Junction H.S.) and
Cameron Stroup (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) each pitched two scoreless inning for the Roadrunners.
MSU Denver will host Colorado School of Mines at 5 p.m. on Friday.
