DENVER - Metropolitan State University of Denver wrapped up the regular season with a pair of wins over Colorado Christian at The Regency Athletic Complex on Saturday. The men's team won 9-0, while the women won 8-1. The men improved to 13-9 overall and 3-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The women are now 5-15 and 1-4 in the RMAC.
On senior day, seniors
Nick Baker (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit West H.S.) and
John Qualls (Henderson, Nev./Foothill H.S.) led the way in singles, winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 and 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, respectively.
Josh Graetz (Albury, Australia/The Scots School),
Calum Hayes (Leeds, England/Guiseley H.S.),
Porter Emery (Casper, Wyo./San Joaquin H.S. (Calif.)) and
Ludvig Henrikson (Täby, Sweden/Danderyds Gymnasium) all also won in straight sets. Graetz and Baker won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, Qualls and Hayes won 8-3 at No. 2, and
Andrew Haralson (Wichita, Kan./Wichita Northwest H.S.) and
Trevor Jones (Vancouver, Wash./Mountain View H.S.) won 8-1 at No. 3.
For the women,
Courtney Wright (Houston, Texas/Memorial H.S.),
Haleigh Chobanian (St. Louis, Mo./Lafayette H.S.),
Kasey Love (Daytona Beach, Fla./Spruce Creek H.S.),
Ana-Jelena Vujosevic (Milano, Italy/Skednja Ekonomska Skola),
Kaitlyn Miller (Castle Rock, Colo./Rock Canyon H.S.) and
Megan Bell (Holladay, Utah/Olympus H.S.) all won their singles matches in straight sets. Wright and Vujosevic won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles and Bell and Miller also won 8-6 at No. 3.
The Roadrunners will open the RMAC tournament in Pueblo, Colorado, next weekend.
