PUEBLO, Colo. - Metropolitan State University of Denver's women's tennis team won 5-0 over Montana State-Billings on Friday morning in the first round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament, but fell 5-1 to Western New Mexico to be sent to the third-place match. The Roadrunners now have a 6-16 record. They will face the loser of CSU-Pueblo and Colorado Mesa for third place at noon on Saturday.
Against MSU-Billings, the Roadrunners took all three doubles matches.
Haleigh Chobanian (St. Louis, Mo./Lafayette H.S.) and
Kasey Love (Daytona Beach, Fla./Spruce Creek H.S.) won 8-4 at No. 1 and
Courtney Wright (Houston, Texas/Memorial H.S.) and
Ana-Jelena Vujosevic (Milano, Italy/Skednja Ekonomska Skola) won 8-6 at No. 2. Love won her No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the win at the Yellowjackets forfeited No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Wright and Vujosevic earned an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles against the Mustangs.
