Women's soccer: Banks nets first career goal in 1-0 win over Pomona

DENVER - Freshman Reigna Banks (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.) scored in the fifth minute and that proved to be the difference as Metropolitan State University of Denver edged Cal Poly Pomona 1-0 on Friday night at The Regency Athletic Complex. The Roadrunners improved to 2-1-0, while CPP fell to 2-1-0.

Banks dribbled around a defender to the center of the box after and fired an easy shot past the goalkeeper for the game's only goal.

The Roadrunners had several more opportunities to score, peppering seven shots on goal in the game.

Breanna Flores (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert H.S.) made seven saves for her second shutout of the season.

The Roadrunners will host Cal State Dominguez Hills at noon on Sunday.
